Synbiotic Crumble

Simple recipe, affordable cupboard ingredients and hassle free dessert that's ready in no time. To compliment the rhubarb this time I paired it with defrosted strawberries and a few apples. It's completely optional but I like to toss my fruits with some sweetener and Gin in the pan for a 5-10 min before placing it to the baking dish and top with the crumble.

Ingredients

  • Fruits of your choice (e.g., apples, berries, peaches) - enough to fill your ovenproof dish
  • Butter (coconut/vegan), for topping
  • Organic flour, for topping
  • Jumbo oats, for topping
  • @natvialiving sweetener (or your preferred sugar substitute), for topping
  • Almond flakes, or any other seeds or nuts you prefer, for topping
  • Ice cream, Greek yogurt, whipped cream, or custard, for serving

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C).
  2. Prepare your fruits by washing, peeling (if necessary), and cutting them into bite-sized pieces. Place them in an ovenproof dish.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine the following ingredients for the crumble topping:
  4. Mix all the topping ingredients until they form a slightly sticky mixture.
  5. Sprinkle the crumble topping evenly over the prepared fruits in the ovenproof dish.
  6. Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake for about 15-20 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and crispy.
  7. Once baked, remove the crumble from the oven and set it aside to cool slightly.
  8. Serve the warm crumble with your choice of accompaniment: ice cream, Greek yogurt, whipped cream, or custard.
  9. Enjoy your delicious and healthy crumble!
