Living the life you’ve always imagined

happy life

With so many things that we want to do with our time each day, week and month; plus a never ending source of inspiration from insta and pinterest; it would lead us to wonder if we will actually ever a) get through it; or b) feel satisfied. Understandably, it’s important to have goals; but given that the majority of my social circle (and surely yours too) feels overwhelmed by their objectives; it’s important to realise that in order to reduce this anxiety we need to follow these simples steps: become conscious, prioritise, and take action.

Start by evaluating what you are doing with your time, and more so; how you would like to spend your time. See, it doesn’t matter what you say is important to you – family, charity work, friends, travel, learning, being healthy, etc. What actually matters is what you do – day to day, hour to hour. This can be a harsh reality when you learn that there may be a disconnect between your actions and words; but believe us; this is the first way to create change.

After you’ve been brutally honest with yourself, make a few lists: your values,  how you would like to spend your time; then how you currently spend your time, and finally (this one might hurt too), what this tells the world about what you actually value. I personally have just done this and realise although I’ve said I value my family highly, I’ve been living abroad which significantly restricts my ability to see them on a day to day level. Note any disconnects in your lists, and realise that you have complete control to move towards your dream life.

Finally, as we mentioned before; take action. Nothing happens until you make it happen; so before you beat yourself up over eating another chocolate brownie because you said you’re being healthy but you obviously aren’t; know that that actually wont help whatsoever. What will help is empowering your behaviour in the moment of now and choosing healthy options – like our delicious gluten, sugar and dairy free desserts, for example.
