Butterscotch Latte

The Butterscotch Latte is your reason to get out of bed on a cold morning. Deep, buttery and just sweet enough, the homemade butterscotch sauce is made with Natvia Brown Sweetener and turns a regular espresso into something genuinely worth waking up for.

Ingredients:

Butterscotch Sauce (makes approx. 240 ml / 1 cup)

  • 55 g (4 tbsp) unsalted butter
  • 73 g (⅓ cup) Natvia Brown Sweetener
  • 120 ml (½ cup) heavy cream
  • 1½ g (¼ tsp) coarse salt
  • 10 ml (2 tsp) vanilla extract

To Serve (per latte)

  • 30 ml (2 tbsp) butterscotch sauce
  • 40 ml (2 shots) espresso
  • 180 ml (¾ cup) milk, steamed

Methods:

  1. Melt butter in a small saucepan over medium heat.
  2. Add the brown sweetener, salt and heavy cream and stir the mixture with a rubber spatula until it's well blended. Once simmering, scrape the edges of the pan to prevent burning. Simmer for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  3. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract. Pour into a jar and store in the fridge for up to 2 weeks.
  4. To make the latte, add 2 tbsp butterscotch sauce to a mug.
  5. Pull 2 shots of espresso directly over the sauce and stir to combine.
  6. Steam milk and pour over. Serve immediately.
