Apple Crumble

Apple Crumble

Some recipes earn their place as a permanent weekend staple, and this apple crumble is one of them. Granny Smith apples go jammy and syrupy in the oven beneath a golden, crunchy topping, and the whole thing is sweetened with Natvia Natural Sweetener instead of sugar. Serve it warm with vanilla ice cream and it will be the most popular thing on the table.

Method:

  1. Preheat the oven to 180C (both fan and standard).
  2. Peel the apples and cut into 1.5cm cubes.
  3. Place the apples in a bowl. Sprinkle over the flour, Natvia Natural Sweetener and cinnamon, then pour over the lemon juice. Toss to combine and spread evenly into a 1.5 litre baking dish.
  4. Place all crumble topping ingredients in a bowl. Mix until clumps form and the mixture resembles wet sand. Spread over the apples, using your fingers to create an even, crumbly layer.
  5. Bake for 30 to 40 minutes until the topping is golden brown.
  6. Remove from the oven, cover loosely with foil and rest for 10 minutes. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream.
